Decent Desirable Denmark

Kia ora bloggers and welcome back to my blog. I can't believe this term is nearly over and also the end of the year. It has been a good two years in this hub with all the fun and crazy adventures we have had as a hub. The end of term 4 means that our school goes swimming at qe11 for 2 full weeks. I was one of the people who don't go swimming so I was back at the hub doing some work. Last week in the afternoon, the students that were back at the hub were allowed to finish off their Inquiry. But this week our teachers said that we had had enough time to complete our Inquiry projects, which were in a country that we got from the teachers. We are also having an international day next week where everyone can come into our hub and see the different groups country learning. Now, the teachers have given us some activities to choose from. There were about 12 activities tp pick from and since I'm not a swimmer I have a lot more time to complete these so we had to do 2 in one week. I chose to do the activity where you explain about Christmas in a country and to explain some traditions about that country. I decided to do the country Denmark because I haven't heard much about Denmark and I thought it would be cool learning about it. If you want to, you can click on a few of the objects in the classroom and some information should pop up for you to read it if you want.

Thank you for reading thing blog post. I found this quite fun and I still have another task to do, but I don't know which one I'm going to do next. If I had a chance I would explore a different country next time. It has been very cool blogging my school learning for about 4 years I actually can't believe that it is almost Christmas time and the new year. I hope you have had a good week so far. See you next blog post!!

The Ta Moko

Kiaora everyone and welcome back to my blog. It is already week 3 and this term has gone super fast already. By the time I know it, it will be the end of the year and I will be going to highschool not too long after. For Inquiry this term the Tora hub is going to be learning all about cultures all around the world. To start the culture learning off, we have been learning tons about New Zealand that we didn't know already. At the start of the term, we did the All Blacks haka. It was hard at the start to get the hang of it but when we started to put it together and get better at it, it was really easy and cool to watch.

After that, we learned more about the food that is in New Zeland and food that are exported out of our country. On Tuesday we did a task that was set by one of our teachers. It was cultural things that are shown in New Zealand. We had to research 1 of the 3 and write down the before and after of the thing that we chose. I chose to do Ta Moko since it seems really interesting and is also cool because it is shown in kapa haka groups and performances.

As you can see, there is a lot of information about Ta Moko. There is also a difference between the before and after of the Ta Moko including the method of doing it and some more. Thank you for ready my blog post about The Ta Moko. I will post tons more of our cultural learning and things to do with literacy and numeracy. Have a good week! Ka Kite!!

Holiday Fun

Kia ora everyone and welcome back to my blog. This week has been packed with lots of fun and amazing events such as the leaders training course which I was a part of and just technology as always. Today I'm going to be sharing with you my favourite part of the recent two week holiday. I went up to Auckland to spend time with my family and celebrate Grandma's birthday. The very last night we were in Auckland, we had a bonfire which was really cool to see since aI hadn't really seen one before. It was on a farm so we had much more room to do the bonfire instead of doing it in a tiny backyard. The bonfire was really bright and really warm so we were able to roast marshmallows on it as a treat for the last night there and just because we were hungry.

It was really fun and cold that night so I'm glad we got armed up from the bonfire. I really enjoyed my time in Auckland especially because I hadn't seen my family for ages, it was a really good catch up. Thank you for reading my blog post this week and I hope you had an amazing holiday as well. There are only 10 more weeks in this term and sadly I am leaving this school and going to high school which will be different but cool to experience and learn more about. Bye!!

Our Rocket Video

Kiaora bloggers and welcome back to my blog. It is finally the last week of the term which means we have 2 weeks of holiday and also spend time with family and friends. This term has been a long term with about 14 weeks non-stop, I think. Everyone is so very tired but just because of that doesn't mean we don't continue our learning each day. In the inquiry, you probably have already heard about this but, we have been creating and learning about rockets and space. The part that I fund most interesting about rockets is the cost and time that goes into each one of these rockets. You wouldn't think that the rockets would cost that much to build because you only use it once then you have to rebuild or add some more touches onto it. For the past week and a half, we have been creating our videos in the group that we built our rockets in and explained exactly what we learnt and some other things as well.

The video part was really cool and creative because you got to decide where you wanted your video to be set which is amazing. I think our rocket explanation video is cool and really creative. My team and I worked really well together because we are friends and we got a lot of work done surprisingly. Thank you for reading my blog post and I hope you like the video. You should really do something like this with your group and like investigate more what you don't already know about what you're doing. Have a good holiday and I'll be back after the holidays posting more of my school life and learning.

Super sign language video

Kiaora blogger and welcome back to my blog. You may not know yet, but this week it is New Zealand sign language. Our class is celebrating this week by doing a fun task that involves learning how to sign with your fingers and using resources online to learn how to sign. NZ Sign Language is one of 3 official languages recognised in New Zealand.  This poster here is the official signs for each letter of the alphabet and some common words used in greetings. Watch the video below once, and then try to copy the letters as they slowly do them. To show what we have learnt during the time we have, we were to make a video of us signing "Kiaora, my name is" and then sign your name to complete the sentence. Here is the video of me signing that phrase.

I'm having technical difficulties with loading the video so when it works i'll put in on here. I fund this task really fun and really cool especially because I haven't learnt sign language before. You should give it a go. If you want to learn more about sign language like your name and simple phrases, you can go onto sign ninja or you can look at the photo above to learn the alphabet, your name and small phrases. Thank you for reading this weeks blog post. It is almost the holidays and I will probably post again this week. Have a good holiday if I don't post anytime after this.

Lucky, launched rocket

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. This week has been really cool because on Tuesday we got to launch the final product of our rocket. Our rocket is really colourful and my group and I put lots of time and effort to perfect our rocket. We had some time on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to create and come up with a design and idea for our rocket to launch as high as possible. Our rocket went really hight and it was in the air for quite some time as well. My group and I were really surprised after it got launched because we didn't think it would go as high as it actually went. Thankfully we filmed the very last launch so than I can show you how great our rocket was.

You may not be able to see it but if you can, it went really high and stayed in the air for quite sometime after we launched it. It was hard sometimes because it wouldn't go quite how we wanted it but we are still very proud of how hard we worked to get the final product of our rocket. Thank you for reading my blog post and I hope you come back for another blog post of mine soon. Have a good weekend! See you next time!

PSA - Coding

Kia ora Bloggers and welcome back to my blog. It's finally the middle of the week which means we only have half the week left at school. For the last couple of weeks, we have been getting taught by our teacher on how to code your own game or system thing. We had to code in words which is complicated but fun at the same time. We have been coding a game to address a world issue that is something bad like littering or something else like that. I decided to do my game on littering because I think it's really important to know not to litter where ever you are in the world. My message on my game is to tell anyone in the park not to litter.

These images are about how I coded it and how the game worked in the end, also about what it looks like. This process did take me two Wednesdays to complete and I think I can do better if I had more time to do it. I will defiantly use this website next time if I want to code a really easy game. This website is called Codesters if you want to give it a go. Thank you for reading my blog post. Make sure you come back next blog post for some extra fun in your day! Have a good week.

The Renegade Rockets!

Kia ora bloggers and welcome back to my blog,

I hope you had a good weekend and stayed really hydrated since it was really hot. As you may know by now, this term the Toroa hub has been learning about rockets and space. After we learnt a little bit about space and rockets, we started to create rockets that were just made out of plastic bottles and we decorated it with cardboard and paper. We also added the details like the fins and the nose cone because every rocket has both of those. After we had been learning and finding out the basics about rockets and space, we were able to test out rocket prototypes and see any changes we needed to make to then make the rocket a bit better. We got a choice to make a group name and a logo, but my group just decided to have a name which is "The Renegade Rocket"I find it really interesting how long it takes to get a rocket ready for launching and how long it takes to get to space. Last week we added information about our rocket and then added the changes and why we needed to change them. My group and I completed a google slide that has all of the information that you would need to know about our rocket.

That is a little bit of what we've been learning throughout the last term and this term. I like the rocket that we created and personally, I think we do need to add changes and if you saw near the end of the presentation, was the overall rating for our rocket. I hope you learned a lot from this blog post and rocket presentation. Thank you for reading my first blog post for this week. I hope you have a good week and learn lots. see you next time!

Super Samoan classroom

 Talofa bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. I hope you are all having a fantastic week so far and doing as much as you can in level 2. Since the start of the year, I have been learning about Samoan every Wednesday because of tech.  This morning before we went to tech, we made a Samoan classroom on google slides. In this classroom, we had to include the alphabet, numbers from 1 to ten the flag and some easy Samoan greetings. This is my virtual classroom of what I've been learning so then maybe you can also learn from it. If you hover over items in the classroom, a hyperlink will pop up for you to click on.

In my classroom you will learn about:

  • The alphabet
  • Samoa as a Country
  • The traditional dance
  • Basic greetings
  • How to count 1-10
  • Information about siapo
  • Animation about a simple conversation
I hope you enjoyed my classroom and I would really like to know what you liked best about it! Have you learnt about Samoan before and have you been to an island like Samoa? I really like the Samoan information and the flag because the flag is really colourful and the information/facts are so interesting. I like finding out about different places and other cultures. See you next blog post!

My recommended rocket animation

Hello Bloggers and welcome back to my blog.  Wow! It's already week 5 and this term has already been filled with lots of learning and fun. Today's post is about what I did today for Inquiry. This term our hob is learning about space and rockets, it's really fun and super fascinating. Today we had to make an animation of what we rockets do when the blast off into space and some other things that rockets have. I decided to add people to it because little children might watch it. Here is the animation that I made!

I found this animation really cool and fun to create because not every day you get to learn and create something about cool rockets. I kind of want to go to space one day because since I heard about space and rockets when I was younger, I've always wanted to go in a rocket and to space. Thank you for reading my blog post about my rocket animation. I hoped you enjoyed it! Did you know that the top of a rocket is called a Thrust and the bottom of a rocket is called the drag weight? Do you want to go to space one day? See you next time!

Problematic, paragliding parachute

Kiaora bloggers and welcome back to my blog. I haven't been posting much since the holidays, but I had a good holiday and it was really good coming back to school and catching up with my friends. For this terms Inquiry, the Toroa hub is learning about space and rockets. Every Tuesday people that have learnt and studied all about space and rockets, come in and teach us a bit about science and space each week. They also tell us what they do as their job, which is really important because there are different jobs in space and science. We have learnt so much so far and we are still to learn much more. As we weren't given any tasks from the people that came in, our teachers set us a task that was started on Thursday and needed to be completed today.

Since we are learning about the subject space, our teachers thought it would be a cool and fun idea to create mini parachutes with resources like fabric and things we could find throughout the hub. We had to be in a group of three so then we could get our parachutes done quicker and easier. And the winner parachute was the group that had the longest time to get to the ground. Our initial design was to have some newspaper as the base and fabric taped on top of it, we had a string attached to each corner which leads to the bolts. When we tested it, it was too heavy and dropped straight to the ground in seconds. Our final design had a small piece of bubble wrap as the top of the parachute, with a string attached with tape to hold the bolts.

Here is the final outcome of my parachute that my group and I made and tested. I think we had a total time of about 1 second and 4 milliseconds and the longest time won and it was about 4 seconds. I like how our parachute turned out and I was not expecting it to go so well. I liked how we used bubble wrap for the top because most people used fabric and it was really interesting to see how long bubble wrap can stay in the air. It actually looks like a parachute which i'm very surprised and happy about. Did you guys have a good holiday and are you glad to be back? It's almost halfway through this term and it's actually gone pretty fast already. Thank you for reading my first blog post of the term! see you next time!

Mysterious magic squares

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. It was sad when I had to go back to school after a fun and adventurous holiday, but it was good to get back into the daily routine. It was so exciting and cool this week because we got to catch up with our friends and do some fun learning. Today I'm going to be showing you what I learnt in maths this week because it was really fun and I think you will if you try it out yourself. We learnt about magic squares which were cool because I haven't learnt about them before. Magic squares look kind of challenging but when you get into it and learn about it more you'll see their really easy. The rules are simples. You have 3 numbers and there has to be one of the 3 numbers in each line, going diagonal, vertical and horizontal. Each of the lines has to add up to the same number. Here is an example that I did...

They were really fun especially the challenging ones. As you can see the numbers I have used are really high and are all even numbers. First, we started off with numbers adding up to 15, then as we progressed through the week, we got into the higher range of numbers and the squares were a lot harder to do. I found that with even numbers, it was way easier to complete and didn't take as much time as the uneven numbers one. That is it for this blog post and I will be sharing with you some more things on what I did throughout the week. Thanks for reading my blog post! See you next time. Did you have a good holiday? Have you learnt about magic squares before?

Super, southern lights

Hello bloggers and welcome back to the last blog post of term 2. Term 2 has been cool but our time in our hub has been cut short due to COVID-19, but other than that it has been terrific. In the last couple of weeks on Friday, the Toroa hub has been learning about Matariki and what happens in the time frame. Matariki is celebrated around sometime around July each year. If the stars are clear and bright, it is a sign that it would be a good crop and harvesting season for the farmers planting. If the stars were hazy and closely bunched together, cold winter was about to happen and planting will then be delayed until sometime in October.

There are multiple amazing and interesting facts about southern lights! Did you know that the meaning behind "Aurora" is the Latin word for sunrise or the Roman Goddess of dawn? An Aurora is a natural light shown in the sky, usually is a greenish colour but it sometimes is red or blue. In the southern hemisphere latitudes, the outcome and is known as the Australis(or the southern lights). Aurora is caused by the impact of actively charged pieces with particles in the high elevation of thermosphere or atmosphere.

Yay, it's finally the last day and I'm super excited to finally go home and have a restful 2 week holiday. I loved working on this art piece because it was so fun and creative to make. the colours are vibrant and perfect for the sky. I'm pleased with how my Matariki art turned out and I hope we can do other art like this in the future. There are multiple stories and things that happen in Matariki, they are really interesting so you should read a book or a movie about it. Have you learnt about Matariki before? What are your plans for the holiday? Have a good holiday!

Marvelous, magnificent Musical

Kia ora everyone and welcome back to my blog. The past week has been very yucky and wet but fingers crossed it will be sunny soon and we'll all be able to hang out with our friends and family outside. For the last two weeks in literacy, Shaw literacy learnt about the horror which was really fun since it is my favourite genre. This week in literacy, we learnt about music and movies or scenes from any musical we know. Our first task for the week was to research the genre musical and answer the questions that our literacy teacher had given us. Next, we had to find 2 different musicals and find/note down the similarities between them both. At first, I didn't like the genre musical but then when I watched some movies or some episodes I really started to like the genre musical. We had to write down what we knew about this genre. Here is an example of what I did...

I found this task creative and very simple to because we got to choose what movies we thought the similarities were. I like the sound of music very much and I haven't quite seen Singin in the rain but I've heard so many things about it, that's how I know. I think musicals sound happy and joyful because the person in the movie that's singing the song isn't sad or worried. Have you studied a genre before? Have you seen the Sound of Music or Singin in the rain? Thanks for stopping by and reading my post. See you next time!

Brilliant bundles of BEDMAS

Hello everyone and welcome back to another week of my sharing you what I've learnt. Yay, it's nearly the weekend and you can finally relax. Some of the days throughout this week have been absolutely terrible, but we are lucky enough that a couple of days were not wet and miserable. In math on Monday, my maths group did a recap on BEDMAS and answered 10 easy questions. I started learning about BEDMAS when I was around year 5 and it was really easy to learn and pick up on. We were mostly practising our exponents because some of us were struggling with trying to solve the exponents in a test we did about 2 weeks ago. I'm going to show you the questions that we had to answer and the answer that went with a specific question. Here are the questions that we had to answer and the equations...

I found Monday's task really easy and fun to do because it didn't take much time but it was fun to work them out. BEDMAS is a creative and challenging way to get better at solving problems that your not sure about. I'll tell you to what each individual letter in BEDMAS stands for. B stands for Brackets, E stands for Exponents, D stands for Division, M stands for Multiplication, A stands for Addition and finally S stands for Subtraction. Thank you for reading my 1st blog post. I'm looking forward to experiencing the new and exciting thing in my last year of intermediate. Next week is the last week of term 2 and then we have a full 2 weeks of relaxing and doing whatever we want! Have you learnt BEDMAS before? Do you think it's easy or hard?

Brainy and brilliant Binary

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. What a terrible week we have been having this week, but I hope the weather turns sunny during the weekend. This week on Wednesday we finished learning about Binary and ASCII. We have done some practice and learnt about it before lockdown but we didn't quite get enough time to finish our sessions. On Wednesday we learnt and figured out what our names and initials were in ASCII/Binary.

Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers.  You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself!  Try watching this video to give it a go yourself! ASCII is a set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard).  I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code!  Using colours to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below!

Here is what I created and the pattern it is in. I really like the colours and how it turned out. I haven't tried anything like this before but it was good to learn and create my own piece of Binary/ASCII. What do you think?  Have you ever tried encoding anything in binary or ASCII?  Could you have a try for yourself?  Can you work out how to write my initials in ASCII from the pattern above? See you next blog post!

Situational stacks of irony

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. I forgot to post this so here it is. Over the past few weeks, the Toroa hub has been learning all about Irony. If you didn't already know what Irony means, I'll explain to you what it means. Irony means sarcasm,
the expression of someone's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. Everybody has used it before no matter what, you use it without knowing and shown it in a way that you try not to do anything or something like that. There are three types of Irony, one is Situational Irony, another is Dramatic Irony and the last one is verbal Irony. They have different meanings behind each of them and is presented differently also.

Our task was to complete a Comic strip that shows how we show or understand Irony itself. We could go in buddies and work hard to complete this in the time that we had. We got to choose throughout the different Ironies, what one we wanted to show or do the most. My friend and I decided to do Situational Irony because we both have been in a situation just like situational Irony. We had to do about 4 photos that showed our findings or explanation. It took her and me a long time because we kept changing ideas and when we finally got to what we thought was the final outcome, we changed and had to redo it. Here is the result that took us ages...
This was really fun to do and learn about. I like how we learnt about all three Ironies and got to chosse from them all. We had a really good go at it even though we had to keep going back and redo it. I really liked how it turned out and how we didn't know at first but then continued to try and try, then after that, we finally finished our Situational Irony Comic Strip.

Do you like how we did it and how it turned out? Have you leart about Irony before? Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog post. Would you be able to say what you think I did wrong or what I did right or even what you like about this post? See you next blog post!

Important, Iregular issues worldwide

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. It has been a really annoying week this week because in the morning it's cold then suddenly halfway through the day it's warm. This week we continued to learn and focus on global issues during our inquiry time. There were 12 pictures and 12 different groups in each different part of the class. The pictures were of artwork describing and showing the audience what was going on during Covid-19. Then we had to write what we think the picture means and how we thought it impacted the world. The photos were really interesting and showed me how much Covid-19 impacted on the globe.

After we did that, we went off by ourselves and had to choose a photo from before. We had to decide on one that we thought was the most interesting and important in the globe. I decided to do a photo that represents people being racist and that a little girl couldn't go to school because people were being racist. We had to explain why it was important to us and how it shows the most perseverance and interest out of them all.

I think that this photo is important because I don't like people being racist to other people especially if it offends them a lot. It is really important to remember that people can't help being the colour that they are born with. Sometimes people get really offended by people calling them names about the colour of their skin, and then they go and call the police on them. Sometimes the police get involved. It's really sad that children at a young age have to go through such a terrible time and situation. People die because of their race, but that shouldn't and wouldn't happen if racism wasn't a thing and people who are being racist, should get put in jail no warnings.

I have enjoyed learning so much about Racism and global issues in the past 1-2 weeks, and really excited to find out more. I like this photo because it is really interesting and informing to me because it shows and reminds me of the protests that have been going on in America for a while. I really like learning about this stuff so then I know what is wrong and right for people to say and do. People shouldn't have to protest to be able to go to school or work. It really heartbreaking because I care a lot about smaller things. Thank you for reading my 1st blog post for this week. I will be updating you more and more during this term. Have you learnt about Global Issues? Do you know what racism is? See you next time!

Kindly knowledgeable Koru

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog,
I hope you liked the last blog post I did that showed you information and problems that are happening in the world right now. In this blog post, I'm going to be sharing with you what I have been learning and creating on Fridays for Art/Maori. We started to draw out the pattern that we wanted on the piece of paper that was going to be short an amazing Koru artpiece. Once we finished our drawing, we then used a sharpie or a vivid to go around the edges of our korus or lines. Next, we coloured in all our patterns and korus in with pastels to make it colourful. After we finished that process, we were allowed to pick a colour of dye to colour the background in, so that it would look way better and pop way more.

I didn't add as many patterns as everyone else, so then it wouldn't have so much going on and it won't look crowded at all. I added some small and big korus, as well as some lines to make it different to everyone else's Koru art. I coloured the korus in different colours except for the smaller and same-sized ones which were coloured all the same colour. Here is the design that I created and worked hard on...

I really liked how my koru art turned out and how much it popped after I added the dye. I chose to add the colour green for the dye because I thought it would be nice to try something different rather than having the background black or something original. I did the colour green for the dye background. I coloured the main koru in light green and the medium-sized one in bright yellow. I coloured one of the ferns in brown, another one in blue and the last one in a silver-grey colour, close to white.

Overall I really like how my koru art turned out and I defiantly will try koru art again because it is so fun and creative to do and make. And, next time I could maybe add more patterns and designs on it. I will keep trying to get one that has different designs. Let me know if there is anything you like about it and maybe something that I need to work on so that I can make it better next time.

Do you like how it turned out? Is there anything you like about it? Thanks for taking the time and reading my blog post. I really enjoy making all types of blog posts. Next blog post, I might do a numeracy one because I haven't done one of those for a long time. But what posts do you want to see from me? See you next time

Gentle Global word art

Kia ora bloggers,
Yas we are finally in the second week of school and it is nearly over. Throughout this term, the Toroa hub is learning all about the world and the impact the Corona Virus has done to us. On Monday we started to learn and find out what the impacts were on the world. Next, we then had to create a word art on all the impacts we think corona has formed. I decided to have hands as my shape because I thought that was the appropriate shape for this occasion because of all the kids and adults not allowed to go to school and work. I have around 15 global impacts that I've decided to put in my word art.
I think it is really creative and cool to look back on when I wanna know about the global impacts on the world during this time. I like all of the colours that I have incorporated into this word art because it makes the design looks fun to look at. I really like what we are doing for Inquiry this term and will be doing for the rest of term 2. It's a really fun and cool way to learn about what is happening in the world right now, during this horrible time.

There are a lot of different Global issues and they have absolutely different meanings. I really liked how it turned out and I love the website that I used to create this art piece. I have used this website a couple of times but I haven't used it for a while now. I hope you have had a good week and are ready to start on Monday with a smart and happy brain.

Have you guys used Word art before? Did you like how my word art turned out? You guys should try this website out, it is really fun and a really cool way to represent and show what you're learning. Thanks for reading my blog post for today! Stay safe and I'll see you next blog post.

Full of fun, week 6 tasks

Kia ora Bloggers
We are finally back at school and are able to go anywhere we wish since Thursday of last week. When I got back this week, it took me a while to get used to the change but then it was really cool. We started back at our normal roster on Monday. It is now a week into level 2 and I'm super glad that we can go back to school and get fast foods. Today you're going to be reading what I have done for my literacy and numeracy this week.

For literacy this week, Shaw literacy had to start a website for our Wizard of Oz Essay. We have got 3-4 weeks to complete our website and then our literacy teacher is going to mark it in e-asstle gradings. I really like the photo that I chose, and there will be other photos in the different bars. I didn't get much done this week because I didn't have the information that I needed for the specific symbols on the top right of the screenshot. Here is a little sneak peek in what my website looks likes so far...

You guys should watch the movie or read the book about the Wizard of Oz. Throughout the next 3-4 weeks, I will of hopefully finished my website and allow you at it to get some inspiration and find out what I'm doing in a week to come.

The next subject activity that I'm going to be showing you what I did is numeracy. I really like numeracy so this activity was really fun to work out and complete. We got introduced to a digital site called Kaggle or Python. It's basically a calculator but it can work out fractions and other hard and complicated problems. We had ten questions to put on Kaggle to show that we know how to use it and to get used to using it. Here is how it turned out...

It was really fun to do and really easy especially on the first time trying it out. I'm really good at doing time tables so I found this really easy to pick up on.

Have you started back at your subjects yet? Do you like learning about what I do on a normal weekday? I really like doing school work. This week was really fun and exciting for me because I got to reunite with my friends and teachers. I also got to see my extended family at the weekend because we went down to level two. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read and access my blog. Stay safe and healthy! see you next blog post.

Thanks Hannah

Week 5 Activities

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog,
Yay! We are finally going back to school after 7 weeks off in quarantine. I'm really excited to be seeing my friends and Teachers again. Today I'm going to be sharing with you an activity that I did for each of my subjects. They were Math, Literacy and for a Technology task. First, I'm going to be showing you my literacy one since that is the first subject I do in the morning.

How does the character of OZ differ from the book in the movie?
Is OZ GOOD? Or is he Bad? Explain your answer

Does OZ manipulate the munchkins in order to stay in control? Explain

What would you do if given the powers of Oz? Explain
These are the questions I used to complete the activity. Here are my work and opinions...
I think this activity was really fun to do and it gave me some ideas of what to rethink happened in the book.

My next subject of the day was Maths. Here is my favourite task that I did last week. We had to answer the math equations and since I love math this was really fun to do as well. Here it is...
I hope you can see my working out but here it is. The next task was a technology task, so I decided to make a pizza from scratch. This was really fun to do and a little challenging as well. We also had to make a pizza box. Here is my final outcome...
I decided to put onion, ham and a load of cheese on it because they are my favourite pizza toppings.

I hoped you liked this blog post and enjoyed reading what I have done in the past week. I hope you have a good week at school and have fun reuniting with your friends. These activities were really fun to do and really creative from my mind aswelll. What have you guys been up to in the past week? I'm really excited to find out. Are you excited for school and what is your favourite subject? See you next blog post.

Weekly Oz Activites

The Wizard of Oz on iTunesHi everyone and welcome back to my blog,
Wow, we just finished our 4th week of quarantine!! We should be very thankful for the hot weather there's been because it could change to thunder any day before we know it. I have enjoyed being home, but I'm really starting to get bored because I haven't got any of my friends to talk to. There have been some literacy activities set for us through the days of the week, so I'm going to show you what I have done with the time of my week in Literacy. As you know by now, Shaw Literacy has been reading and focusing on a book called "The Wizard Of Oz". I finished a couple of days ago and I really enjoyed reading it. This week we were focusing on the different themes of the book.

Friendship, Good vs Evil, Dreams & Hopes and Disappointment were our themes for this book. we had to answer the questions that our teacher put up for us so that he knows we understand about what we are reading. I will be sharing with you what I thought each of these questions meant and show you that I understand.

Friendship

1. What do you think is the greatest act of friendship in the book?
2. Why do you think Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Lion bond so quickly?
3. How do Dorothy and the Lion comfort each other when they're captured by the Wicked Witch?

Good vs Evil
1. What does the wizard do to help people? Name at least one example.
2. The Scarecrow and the tin man kill the Wicked Witch of the West's crows, wolves, and bees, and the Lion kills a giant spider. Why do you think they're still described as "good" characters?
3. When Dorothy kills the Wicked Witch of the West, she says she's "very sorry indeed." (12.82) Do you believe her? Why or why not?

Dreams & Hopes
1. What do the dreams of the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Lion all have in common?
2. In what way does Dorothy's dream differ from the dreams of her friends?
3. Do you think that dreams come true in the Land of Oz? Explain your answer.

Disappointment

1. Why do you think that Dorothy is able to move past discouraging situations so quickly?

2. Describe a situation in the book where disappointment leads to a new opportunity.

3.What coping mechanisms do the characters draw on to deal with disappointments as they arise? Name at least two and describe the situations in which they were used.

As you can see I have put in a lot of effort to do this blog post. Overall I really enjoyed and tried my best at the tasks that were set for me. The questions were really interesting to discover and that gave me a chance to remember the book and the different times that different thins happened in. I will be watching the movie soon and I'm still figuring out if it would be like I was picturing it in my head. I hoped you liked this weeks blog post and enjoyed reading about what I've done in Literacy throughout the week. I'm interested to know what you guys are up to. Do you like Quarantine? Are you getting bored with it?

Wacky Wednesday Math's

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog,
I hope you guys have been having a good week so far. It has been really hot over the past days and if you want to, go outside for a walk, on your lunch break so then you get the vitamins that you need. Even though there are only three days in our week this week, I decided to show you what I did on Wednesday for my Maths task. Yesterday we started learning about coordinates. We had three tasks to do and we had to put the evidence on a slide so that our teacher knows that we actually understand coordinates. Then we had to make a small place out of squares and then write letters on each corner to show the different coordinates.
That's how my evidence slide turned out like. I really liked Wednesdays activity because it was really fun, something different and kinda challenging at the same time because I haven't really learnt about coordinates before. The links that I used to access the coordinate games are:
You should really have a go at these games if you want. They are really helpful if you want to learn about coordinates. Other than that, I hope you have a good restful day and go for a walk outside to get some fresh air. I thought these websites were really helpful to me. I hoped you liked my blog post today and hope you got to know and learn more about coordinates and grides while reading my blog post. How's your week going so far? Do you like being in Quarantine more than you like being at school. See you next blog post!!

Fun Friday activity

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog,
Yay! It's Friday and no more school until next week, although I really do like going on the calls in the morning to catch up with my friends and teachers. Since our teachers were being really nice today, they decided to give us some fun activities to try. I thought this was such a good idea so we wouldn't have to work as hard as we do on normal days. There were around 6 activities for us to have a go at. Also, there were three activities in each different colour. There were two colours and an American football task. We had to do at least one from each colour, and I decided to do Turquise first.

The task that I decided to do first was creating emoji Idioms. First, we had to go to a link which was filled with sayings so than it would be easier for us to create the Emoji Idioms. Then we had to get the different emojis to fit in with the sayings from the site. I decided to do two, one long one and a short one. These are the emojis that I used...

  1.  +
  2. ++++

It was really fun to make since I haven't tried this activity before. You should try and work out what the sayings are from each Emoji Idiom. Overall I enjoyed this activity, and I defiantly will try this again soon in my own time. Since it is Anzac day soon, I'm going to make some poppies because that is another task from another colour. But if I don't post the poppies before Anzac day, I just want to wish you all the best for Anzac day and remember all the people who died at the war. See you next blog post!!

Have you tried doing this activity before? Have you made any poppies or done any baking for Anzac day??

Smart Scarecrow??

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog,
I hope you are all doing alright in Quarantine and not getting too bored. I have been managing to keep myself busy with schoolwork and going for walks occasionally. Today is another day of learning so I have got another blog post to share with you. It's another literacy one but over the weeks that we have off and are doing learning from home, I will defiantly show you what I have been up to in my Maths group. Today's character is the scarecrow from since my literacy group has started to read this book during Quarantine.

The poor Scarecrow doesn’t think he’s very smart. But you know what!? He is. What does it mean to have a ‘Brain’?Does it need to mean just that you are smart?

That is what we had to answer. We had to write a few sentences or a paragraph to show the teacher that we really understand what smart means to us. We also had to write a quote and write down what that quote actually means. This is my opinion on what having a brain means...

In my opinion, to have a brain it means that you aren’t thinking before you do things. Usually, if people have a brain they have the ability to learn and understand things and to solve problems. It also means that you make the right decisions at the right time, but if you don’t have a brain it means that you are making wrong decisions at the wrong time. ”Action is the real measure of intelligence” Napoleon Hill.

I think that the quote means that you think or use your brain before you act or speak.
So that's what I think to have a brain means. I really enjoyed this activity because we got to find a quote and we got to write our own opinion on what it means to have a brain. What are your opinions on having a brain?? Do you think that your opinion is the same as mine?? Thanks for reading my blog and taking the time out of your day to read it. I will see you next blog post.
