Since we are learning about the subject space, our teachers thought it would be a cool and fun idea to create mini parachutes with resources like fabric and things we could find throughout the hub. We had to be in a group of three so then we could get our parachutes done quicker and easier. And the winner parachute was the group that had the longest time to get to the ground. Our initial design was to have some newspaper as the base and fabric taped on top of it, we had a string attached to each corner which leads to the bolts. When we tested it, it was too heavy and dropped straight to the ground in seconds. Our final design had a small piece of bubble wrap as the top of the parachute, with a string attached with tape to hold the bolts.
Here is the final outcome of my parachute that my group and I made and tested. I think we had a total time of about 1 second and 4 milliseconds and the longest time won and it was about 4 seconds. I like how our parachute turned out and I was not expecting it to go so well. I liked how we used bubble wrap for the top because most people used fabric and it was really interesting to see how long bubble wrap can stay in the air. It actually looks like a parachute which i'm very surprised and happy about. Did you guys have a good holiday and are you glad to be back? It's almost halfway through this term and it's actually gone pretty fast already. Thank you for reading my first blog post of the term! see you next time!
