For my first blog post of Term 2, I decided to show you what I did yesterday for my maths task. Each day in maths we have to complete a task up to our own standard. In my maths group, we did the properties of shapes. First, we had to find some different sized shapes and with different numbers of edges, sides and vertex. Next, we had to find how many sides, edges and the vertex that was on the shape. I found this quite challenging and fun to do at the same time. The objects I found were an old literacy book from last year, a glass, a deck of card packet and a television remote.
This is how it turned out. You can see the outlined lines which are in red because that is where I found the edges, sides and vertex are. I hoped you liked yesterday's task that I blogged today. And I hope that you had a safe and fun time off in the holidays while in your quarantine bubble. Have you done or started any tasks yet? Have you had any online classes? See you next blog post.

Hi Hannah
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a lot of fun and I can see that you have thought about a range of objects that you could use to help you with your learning. I look forward to seeing your next post. Are you are enjoying learning from home?
Hi Mr Tyson, it was really fun to do and it gave me a bit of a challenge to find all the different objects. Learning from home is really fun but i'd rather be at school with all my friends and teachers. I hope you are staying safe and entertaining in your quarantine bubble. Thanks for the nice comment.
DeleteHi Hannah
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! I like how you have challenged yourself by choosing things that would be difficult to work out the sides, edges and vertices! I am really impressed with the way you have taken care to make sure your post was clear of spelling or grammar mistakes first before pressing POST! From memory, I think Hamish chose some difficult things to measure too. Check out his post! Looking forward to reading more of your posts Hannah. Take care. Mrs Pascoe
Hi Mrs Pascoe, it was really fun to do and because I chose more difficult items, it gave me a bit of a challenge which I like. I will defiantly go check his out. I'm really sad that we can't go to school in the next week because i'm missing all my friends and the teachers. I hope your staying entertained and keeping yourself safe in your Quarantine bubble. Thanks for the nice comment.
DeleteHi Hannah, what a pleasure to read such an explicit illustration of the properties of shapes. I am glad that you chose to use the glass tumbler, otherwise I would not have been able to work out the meaning of vertices - the glass being the odd one out with zero. You asked if we have been doing any tasks ourselves, well I am working on a website for learning at home extension tasks, and support for families. I'll send you a link when we done if you like and you could test out some activities and give us feedback? But only if you not too busy with all the other challenging learning you are clearly doing. Thanks again for sharing with us! Kind regards, Naomi
ReplyDeleteThank you Naomi, I will absolutely love for you to send me the link because i'm really interested in what you have created. I hope your having a safe time off and staying in your quarantine bubble. Thanks for the nice comment.
DeleteGreat! We would really appreciate some independent reviews of our Learning@Home site from someone like yourself! I forgot to mention that I work for the Woolf Fisher Research Centre at The University of Auckland. As soon as we are ready (which won't be too much longer), I will definitely send to you. Thanks heaps, Naomi
DeleteThat looks really cool.
